Emission-free flying with hydrogen

The concept of electric flying seems to be easy. Batteries store regenerative electricity, which in turn supplies an electric motor and is responsible for driving the aircraft. However, it is precisely these batteries that present the concept with challenges due to the high specific weight.

One way to increase range and functionality is to use fuel cells. Unlike batteries, power and capacity can be decoupled in fuel cells, enabling a significant increase in range with a slight increase in weight.

For the use of hydrogen, an additional conversion step is necessary, the first in the fascinating cycle of hydrogen utilization. By electrolysis of water, ie the splitting of water, regenerative electrical energy can be converted into the chemical energy carrier hydrogen and the vital element oxygen.
